Gravitational force: Hold a ball in your hand and release it. Does it go up or down?
Throw a ball up in the sky. Does it keep going up or does it come back?
You will observe that no matter how hard you throw things up, they always come back to Earth. It is because the Earth pulls all objects towards its centre with a force called gravitational force or gravity.
Everything that has mass is pulled towards the Earth due to the force of gravity. That is why all objects fall on the ground. When trees shed their leaves, they fall down.
